Social Media Management 101

Social media is a game-changer for marketing, but not without its ups and downs. Marketing on social media is a great idea; however, not managing your platforms properly is a digital death sentence. Many businesses struggle with how to use social media properly. Because of this, we put together some of the most essential tips for your social media management.

Post Regularly

By far, the biggest mistake most companies make is failing to post regularly. A single post here or there is not enough for building a following. Most people will not follow based on one post (unless it’s a really memorable one). Instead, they need to see a consistent presence before they decide to subscribe to an online presence. When you fail to post consistently, you run the worst risk of all: not being noticed at all.

To fix this, there is only one thing you can do. Set up a regular schedule for your posting and stick with it. Once your postings occur on a regular basis, your audience will be more likely to become interested and follow.

Post Engaging Content

If you are going to post regularly, you have to post things that people actually want to see. Companies often make the mistake of making their online content only about their products and making the sale. While this seems like an obvious use of social media, consumers do not just want to be sold to. Instead, they want to engage and be part of a conversation.

Rather than just selling, use your time online to engage your customers in real and meaningful ways. Ask for participation.  Use surveys to get feedback. Be inspiring and positive.

Respond Often

A third vital tip to remember is that your audience follows you for a reason, they want to engage. That means more than them commenting; it means you have to respond. Going back-and-forth is the whole point of social media.

Failing to respond is an easy way to tell your followers you are not listening to what they have to say. Instead, make a point to respond to as much as you can. You don’t have to hit every single thing, but try and respond to as much as possible.

Of course, these three tips are just the beginning. There is so much more to know about using social media correctly. Following these tips is a good way to get started on having a successful social media marketing campaign. If you need help with social media management, contact us at OmniSocial Engine today.
